Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing, color retention, and longevity of your tattoo. Please follow these instructions carefully.
Immediately After Your Appointment
Your tattoo will be covered with a sterile bandage or protective wrap.
Leave the bandage on for 2–4 hours, unless otherwise instructed by your artist.
Once removed, wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
Cleaning Your Tattoo (Days 1–14)
Gently wash the tattoo 2–3 times per day using:
Lukewarm water
A mild, fragrance-free, antibacterial soap
Use clean hands only — do not use washcloths, loofahs, or sponges.
Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel or allow to air dry.
Do not rub or scrub the area.
Moisturizing
After cleaning and drying, apply a very thin layer of a fragrance-free tattoo aftercare ointment or lotion.
Use only products recommended by your artist.
Apply 2–3 times per day or as needed to prevent dryness.
Over-moisturizing can cause irritation or delayed healing — less is more.
Normal Healing Process
During healing, you may experience:
Redness or slight swelling (first 24–48 hours)
Mild tenderness or warmth
Peeling or flaking (similar to a sunburn)
Light scabbing or dryness
⚠️ Do not pick, scratch, or peel your tattoo — this can cause ink loss, scarring, or infection.
What to Avoid During Healing (Minimum 2–4 Weeks)
Submerging your tattoo in water (no baths, hot tubs, pools, oceans, lakes, or saunas)
Direct sun exposure or tanning beds
Excessive sweating or strenuous exercise that causes friction
Tight or restrictive clothing over the tattoo
Sleeping directly on the tattoo if possible
Shaving the tattooed area
Applying makeup, perfumes, or fragranced products on the tattoo
Sun Protection (After Healing)
Once fully healed, always apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen to your tattoo when exposed to the sun.
Sun exposure is the leading cause of tattoo fading, especially with fine line tattoos.
Fine Line Tattoo Considerations
Fine line tattoos are more delicate and require extra care:
Avoid excessive friction or stretching of the skin
Keep the area well moisturized
Touch-ups may be needed after healing to maintain crisp lines
Signs of Possible Infection
Contact a healthcare provider if you notice:
Increasing redness or swelling after 3 days
Pus or thick yellow/green discharge
Severe pain or warmth
Fever or chills
Red streaking from the tattoo site
Touch-Ups
Healing typically takes 4–6 weeks
Touch-ups may be recommended after this period to ensure optimal results
Touch-up pricing varies based on tattoo size and detail
Final Notes
Your tattoo is an open wound during healing. Cleanliness, patience, and proper care are critical. Everyone heals differently based on skin type, placement, and lifestyle.
If you have any questions or concerns during the healing process, please contact us immediately.

Touch-ups may be needed after the 6-week healing period to ensure long-lasting results. Pricing varies based on tattoo size and style.
-
Because they are typically smaller and require less time to complete, fine line tattoos generally cause less discomfort and heal faster. Most clients experience minimal soreness during the healing process.
-
Numbing is not recommended, as it may affect the skin and make it more difficult for the artist to achieve optimal results.
